BiographyRyan Woods is a sound artist and electroacoustic composer based in Manchester, UK. His work explores place, ecology and community using fixed media, soundscape composition, field recordings and sound walks. Beyond the acoustic realm he is interested in fine, visual and conceptual art. He is concerned with the ecological and decolonial potential of his work seeking to democratise participation. After completing an undergraduate dissertation in music and sound art’s potential role in creating ecological sustainability, he is now undertaking a Masters in Electroacoustic Composition at the University of Manchester. His current focus is on exploring the use of narrative in soundscape composition as well as community soundwalks as a method of engagement with place.
